How many porta potties do I need?

Five whole-number steps for any event, from a backyard party to a festival.

Start with the base

Plan 1 standard unit per 50 guests for an event up to 4 hours. Always round up.

Longer than 4 hours?

Add 1 unit, plus 1 more for each full 100 guests past the first 100.

Serving alcohol?

Add the same number again. A bar means more trips to the restroom.

Include an accessible unit

Have at least 1 wheelchair-accessible unit, and 1 in every 20 units. It counts toward your total.

Food on the menu?

Add 1 hand wash station for every 3 toilets, or pick deluxe units with sinks.

Worked example

150 guests, 5 hours, a bar: 3 + 1 + 1 = 5 units, 1 of them accessible. Add 2 hand wash stations with food.
