How many restrooms does a plant shutdown or turnaround need?

A plant shutdown needs restrooms sized to its largest shift, not its total head count. Plan 1 standard unit per 10 workers on that shift. When a day crew and a night crew share the same units, the use doubles, so plan to double the units or add a second weekly service visit.

Sizing units by shift for industrial work
Workers on largest shiftOne shift a dayTwo shifts sharing units
101 unit, weekly service2 units, or 1 unit with 2 visits a week
303 units, weekly service6 units, or 3 units with 2 visits a week
606 units, weekly service12 units, or 6 units with 2 visits a week

The legal floor for construction-type work is OSHA 1926.51, covered on our construction site toilet page. Our counts sit above that floor because a standard unit holds about 200 uses between visits.

Can industrial units be serviced more than once a week?

Industrial units can get extra service visits on top of the 1 weekly visit included in every long-term rental. Each visit pumps the tank, washes the inside and restocks paper and sanitizer. Visits run Monday to Saturday between 7 AM and 7 PM, so we time them around your day shift.

Turnarounds often run 10 to 14 days with crews at full strength. On those jobs, two or three visits a week keep units usable. Tell us your shift change times and we will aim for the quiet hours between breaks.

Break areas with food need soap and water. A two-sink hand wash station sits next to the toilets and gets its water refilled on each visit.

What does the driver need to get through our gate?

The driver needs 4 things to enter a plant: a site contact name and phone, the gate or guard shack to check in at, any safety gear rules, and the exact drop spot. Give us these when you book. The driver calls about 30 minutes ahead so security can expect the truck.

  1. Check-in. Tell us if drivers sign in, need a badge, or need an escort past the gate.
  2. Route. Name the gate to use and any height or weight limits inside the yard.
  3. Spot. Pick level concrete or asphalt away from forklift lanes and dock doors.
  4. Service access. Make sure the weekly truck can reach the same spot without a new escort each time.

If the truck is turned away at the gate, a return trip fee applies. The details are in our rental terms.

Do you serve utility, solar farm and right-of-way crews?

Utility, solar farm and right-of-way crews get trailer-mounted units that move with the work. Each one is a standard toilet on a small towable trailer. Solar builds in rural Florence, Darlington and Marion counties, rail work and road shoulders all use them, because the crew may shift miles in a week.

Out in the country, a street address may not exist. Send a map pin or the nearest road and mile marker, plus the gate you want us to use.

Crews of 10 or more on long linear jobs often keep one fixed unit at the laydown yard and one towable unit at the front of the work.

Which units fit a warehouse or plant yard?

Most warehouse and plant yards use standard units on concrete or asphalt. Add 1 wheelchair-accessible unit when staff or visitors need it, and a hand wash station near any break area. Office staff working on site for months often prefer a deluxe unit with a sink inside.

Industrial restroom questions

Can one invoice cover units at several plant sites?

Companies and contractors with an approved account can be invoiced. Each unit is listed with its own site address and 28-day cycle, so your accounting team can match it to the right job.

What does an extra service visit cost at a high-use site?

Each added visit is $65 and brings the same pump-out, wash-down and restock as the included weekly one. During a plant turnaround, heavy-use sites often book 2 or 3 visits a week instead of adding more units. We space those visits apart on the route.

How much is a hand wash station for a plant break area?

A hand wash station on a long-term plan starts at $150 per 28-day cycle plus a one-time $40 delivery. The weekly visit refills its fresh water. For a shutdown of 7 days or less, it starts at $125.

Can your drivers service units at night during a shutdown?

Delivery and service run 7 AM to 7 PM, Monday to Saturday. Night and Sunday visits are not offered, so we plan service for the day shift and add units if the night crew is large.

What happens to units at our plant before a named storm?

Before a named storm, we lay units down, strap them or pick them up on request. Hurricane season runs June 1 to November 30, so plan for it on long summer and fall jobs.

How fast are units picked up when the turnaround ends?

Call or text when the job is done. We pick up within 2 business days, and billing stops on the day you make the request.
